Clearing the Path

The purpose of the Clearing the Path (CTP) initiative is to support and promote economic development in Saskatchewan communities.

There are two specific areas the CTP focuses on - Transportation (CTP Primary Weight Corridors) and Development (Municipal Capacity Development Program).  Each has committees working towards implementing intiatives to help build sustainable communities.

CTP is working to build the tools needed to assist our municipal leaders in finding the resources and support they need to build strong, sustainable communities across Saskatchewan.

History
The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) and the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) are working with a committee of municipal leaders to implement recommendations on improving the business climate in rural Saskatchewan.

The eleven recommendations come from a process called Clearing the Path, established by SARM in 2004 to identify and remove municipal impediments to economic development. SUMA has now joined SARM as a full partner to put the recommendations in place.

To read these recommendations see the CTP Final Report (word) (pdf).
